Integrative Homeopathy - Welcome
Thank you for being here and giving up some of your time to learn more about Integrative Homeopathy.
The question I get asked most is, what is HOMEOPATHY?
In a nutshell, it's a system of healing that was developed over 200 years ago based on the work of Hippocrates who said First, do no harm. It uses minimal doses of natural substances, plants, animals or minerals, to stimulate the body's ability to heal and re-gain balance. Homeopaths take into consideration the fact that we are each more than just our physical body. The state we find ourselves in at any given moment is the result of not just how we sleep, what we eat, or how we exercise but also how we cope with stress, what we find joy or sadness in, what triggers us, and the culmination of our life experiences. And when one, or many, of these are out of balance, the body starts to exhibit symptoms. The Homeopath will consider all of these symptoms, look for patterns and then choose an appropriate remedy that matches those same patterns, which, when taken, signal the body to act, almost like turning the key on in the ignition of the car. Once started, it can do it's job, but without that key it remains static, or in the case of people, "stuck".
We all inherently understand that each of us is different. We like different foods, we handle stress differently, and we certainly have all had different life experiences and how I wrote about the expression of symptoms earlier, is different for each of us. We are whole and complete individuals with our own stories, strengths, and challenges and we respond differently to our environments. So when it comes to our wellness, it's important that we are treated as such. We are, indeed, more than our diagnosis, collection of symptoms, or a lab result. We are the individual who is experiencing these and who we integrate, respond and react to treatment is unique to each of us.
Homeopathy is the foundation of my practice and has been for over 30 years and is the anchor to my more integrative approach to health. Sometimes your "remedy" may include, making space for better sleep, restoring balance to a busy life, improving nutrition, or addressing the chronic stress that quietly affects so many aspects of our health with breathwork techniques that you can do most anywhere. Together, we explore the patterns that have shaped your health over time and come up with a plan for wellness, regulation and relief.
As I've moved into the Fall of my own life, (based on the assumption that I'm going to live to be 100! LOL), I have given deep thought to what it means to transition into this new stage. Part of my practice is now about addressing grief in all of it's forms. As a Certified Grief Coach, I understand the importance of having someone support and walk with you as you move through the experience.
It is my strong opinion that one of the main contributors to a long and fulfilled life is a sense of community and connection. As part of my integrated approach to wellness, I have merged my passion for intentional community into my offerings. Stay tuned for updates on what will become regular dates for sharing, reflection and creativity.
